CITIZENSHIP
AND PERSONAL SOCIAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION (P.S.H.E.)
At Robert Bruce we believe in developing a strong school community
by having a clear vision which creates an effective, positive ethos that
will permeate all areas of school life. Therefore we seek to ensure that
our pupils will be equipped to take on and fulfil their role as lifelong
learners in an ever changing society.
The KS2 PSHE curriculum is based on the QCA scheme of work and gives
children the opportunity to experience a full range of subjects that are
required.
This year we are implementing a new programme KS3. Scheme gives
children the opportunity to cover a range of subjects and ensures full
coverage that is inline with current national requirements. These are as
follows-:
·
National Curriculum for citizenship
·
Non –Statutory Guidance for
personal wellbeing, economic wellbeing
and financial capability
·
The Every Child Matters outcome
framework
·
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
·
Social and Emotional Aspects of
Learning for Secondary Schools
Personal Relationship
Policy (Incorporating Sex Education)
The aim of our Personal
Relationships Policy (which incorporates Sex Education) is to prepare all
pupils for the opportunities and responsibilities of adulthood.
We aim:
- To encourage personal responsibility in all forms
of behaviour
- To encourage self esteem and confidence
- To encourage self respect and respect for
others
- To provide support and information
concerning all aspects of sexual health for our young people and their
parents.
The programme will
provide knowledge and information relevant to the age and maturity of the
pupils and encourage the acquisition and attitudes to allow pupils to
manage their lives in a responsible and healthy way.
The Personal Relationships Policy (including Sex Education) can be viewed
at school.
